The second Ziggy Memorial Poker Tournament and Cook Out will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 6 to 10 p.m. at the Louise duPont Crowninshield Community House to the benefit of the Gasparilla Island Maritime Museum located within Whidden's Marina. The cookout will be held form 6 to 7:30 p.m. sharp, since tables will need to be cleared for the card players, so guests are urged to be there early.
An important part of the fund-raising effort will be a raffle which will be held throughout the event. The raffle items and the donors' names will be prominently displayed. Tickets will be sold and the raffle will be promoted through the day of the tournament. Winners need not be present to win.
Raffle prizes are being actively solicited and a maritime theme is encouraged, and, of course, the Ziggy the Pig theme is good too. There is no minimum value, as smaller items can be grouped. Contributors of raffle prizes are asked to attach information about their business to their items, which will be on display at the event.
To have donations picked up, call one of the raffle committee members or drop off at The Seale Family, Inc. office. Raffle tickets are $2 each or three for $5.
The $125 tickets, which are limited to 100 participants, include entry into the poker tournament and the cookout. Additional meal ticket may be purchased for $50. The "non-eating" public is invited to participate in the mullet toss and other activities or just watch as the poker players get eliminated at what is often a spirited and entertaining event.
For a major sponsor of the poker tournament, sponsorship will include free poker tourney entries, meal tickets and drink cups, depending on the level of sponsorship. For more information, call Dave Arner at 964-0222.
Raffle committee members are Linda Konings 204-2492, Patrice Dumas 830-2775 and Melissa Steyer 628-5700.
