Boca Grande Swing Bridge
The price to enter paradise is $4 for most vehicles and $1 for bicycles at the Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority’s Boca Grande Swing Bridge. It is the only land link from Charlotte County to the three barrier islands known as: North, Cole and Gasparilla Island. The bridge spans two 80-foot wide channels on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway at Placida Harbor. The bridge was built from 1952-1958 to replace a ferry service.
The bridge’s steel swing span is 213 feet long and it is the only toll swing bridge in Florida open every day, all day. Until Jan. 5, 1998, when the GIBA purchased the bridge, it was the only privately owned toll bridge in Florida.
