The Boca Grande Health Clinic has been around for more than 40 years. Over that period, it has established a legacy of service to the community that is unparalleled and that succeeds to this very day.
To accomplish its mission of delivering first-rate health care across the patient base, the BGHC have depended upon the financial support of the entire Boca Grande community. The solicitation and management of that base of public and private donors is the responsibility of its affiliate, the Boca Grande Health Clinic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization whose sole purpose is to raise and manage the necessary funding to insure the Clinic's financial stability in the years to come.
Both institutions are overseen by independent boards and managed by a small and hard-working staff to deliver 24/7 service provided by dedicated medical professionals, coupled with an excellent referral network and visiting physicians and healthcare specialists onsite in the Clinic Annex.
The costs of providing these services far outweigh the patient revenue stream. The Foundation covers the deficit from its Campaign for the Future, its Annual Giving drive, Planned Giving and special events (golf outing, auction, raffles, etc.).
Since its inception in 2003, The Foundation has raised more than $19 million while spending another $3 million in fulfillment of its mission. It now manages the difference with the help of outside advisers of some $14 million in investments and another $2 million in pledges receivable. It is committed to raising another $4 million in pursuit of a total invested base of $20 million, the earnings from which will ensure the Clinic's financial stability for the foreseeable future. So the Foundation's work is far from complete.
The generosity of the broad donor base has been truly astonishing and comes from every corner of the community. This clearly speaks to the need for and importance of the Clinic to us all. It provides our island residents, as we age, "peace of mind" living here knowing that if a health care need should arise the Clinic is there to handle it. The willingness of the community to underwrite all that has been accomplished as well as everything that will continue to be done in response to the island's ever expanding health and wellness needs is a statement that the Clinic's vision for the future is shared throughout Boca Grande and that The Foundation's effort is one in which we can all share and take pride . . .
