Word on the Island: Is the holiday shopping season up or down so far on Boca Grande?

Paula Beecher, Boca Grande, co-owner Sisters Restaurant: "I think this year has really stayed the same. The Christmas Walk got everybody out but we're about the same as we've done the past three years."

Julie Camp, Boca Grande, owner Dolphin Cove: "We're in a lull."

Nicole Coleman, South Gulf Cove, Aqua Boutique staffer: "Thanksgiving was fabulous but now it's quiet. Everybody is coming back to the island for Christmas."
