The funeral has been held for Deputy Scott Wheeler, who was killed Wednesday night in a motorcycle accident while off duty.
Viewing/visitation was Monday at Cape Christian Fellowship, 2110 Chiquita Blvd., Cape Coral. A church service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 1922 SW 20th Ave., Cape Coral.
Burial service was private.
Wheeler began work at the Lee County Sheriff's Office Oct. 13, 2008, as a member of the Corrections Division.
His fiance, Sarah Claus, issued the following statement: "Scott was the most amazing spouse, father, son, brother, uncle, best friend and sheriff's deputy. "He is survived by his fiance Sarah, his two children and a baby on the way, mother and father, stepfather, brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews. Scott will be remembered as the strongest, funniest and biggest-hearted person we all know. He will be so incredibly missed and never forgotten."
The family has opened a memorial account at Fifth-Third Bank under "Sheriff's Deputy Wheeler Memorial Fund."
