'Silver Pigs' digs into Roman machinations

"The Silver Pigs," a thriller set in Roman days by author Lindsey Davis, is the next discussion topic for the Boca Grande Sleuths.

The mystery will be presented by Rosemary Bowler at 4 p.m. March 15 in the Woman's Club Room.

"The Sleuths welcome everyone to their lively discussions and there are no exams," Bowler said.

The story revolves around Marcus Didius Falco, a Roman informer-turned-author in 70 A.D.

Falco must negotiate the snobbish and dangerous Roman channels of power while overcoming the prejudice among publishers, booksellers and readers wary of his historical novels and off-beat settings.
