Easter Sunrise Sunday Mass calls all

The island interfaith services will begin with the Way of the Cross at noon Good Friday, April 22, at Our Lady of Mercy Church on Park Avenue. Residents and visitors are invited to take part in the hour-long service commemorating Jesus’ last walk to Calvary. Those gathered for the service will help carry the cross and read Meditations as the group walks through the village in its observance of the 14 Stations of the Cross. The annual ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service will take place at 6:45 a.m. April 24 on the beach next to the historic Port Boca Grande Lighthouse and Museum. Clergy from all island churches will lead the service with the Rev. Brian Brightly of Lighthouse Methodist Church preaching the message “Believing, Seeing, Obeying, Following the Risen Christ.”

Musical selections will be provided by the Boca Grande Barbershoppers.

Boca Grande United Methodist Church services: Palm Sunday worship services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. at the Lighthouse Methodist Church, 325 West Third St.

Sunday coffee hour is from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Sunday school is during the 10:30 service and nursery is provided for the children during the 10:30 service. Sunday coffee hour is from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. In addition, there will be a kid’s Easter service and egg hunt. Kids need to check in at 10:00 a.m.

Maundy Thursday Service: 7 p.m. is a dedicated time of prayer, healing and anointing followed by the Last Supper Holy Communion Service at 7:30 p.m.

Beginning May 1, The Lighthouse United Methodist Church will switch from two worship services to one worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday. School and nursery provided for the children during the service.
