Boca Grande Kids Reunion RSVPs required

The question is how big can the Boca Grande Kids Reunion grow? Boca Grande Kid's Reunion 3.0 has a tough act to follow after roughly 160 people attended last year's bash at P.J.'s SeaGrille, which doubled the 80 people who attended the first Boca Grande Kids reunion at South Beach Bar & Grille in 2009. This year's reunion will be held at Miller's Dockside from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. July 30. Invitations have been sent out on the Boca Grande Reunion Fan Page, in the Gasparilla Gazette and on Facebook for the Boca Grande Kid's Reunion 3.0. “It's once again time to celebrate being a Boca Grande Kid with all your Boca Grande friends,” said organizer Jackie Silcox Fogarty.

A dinner buffet and cash bar will be offered for $20 per plate.

“Please RSVP the number of people in your party by July 16 or you will not be having dinner with us,” Fogarty said. “We hope to see you!”

“Last year everyone commented on what a wonderful time they had,” Fogarty said. “Anyone who grew up or spent part of their childhood in Boca Grande is welcome to attend. We hope that this year will be just as big an event.

Last year's attendance was buoyed by coordinating with the Hudson family reunion, said organizer Darlene Edic. The Boca Kids Reunion, created after a chance meeting on Facebook, has become a viral island hit with more and more “Kids” reconnecting to their roots.

“Last year we all started talking on Facebook,” Edic said. “We all kept finding each other.”
