Mary Patricia LaValle Bell of Englewood and formerly of Port Clinton, Ohio, died July 19. Born Aug. 26, 1930, in Columbus, Ohio, to Mary (Schwan) and Carl LaVall, she married Dante L. Bell June 7, 1957, in Port Clinton and lived on Catawba Island for 45 years.
A 1948 graduate of Columbus West High School, employed by the state of Ohio and Erie Ordnance Depot, hge graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in art education. She was a substitute teacher in Port Clinton and Danbury schools.
She was a member of Port Clinton Artists Club, Englewood Center of the Arts, Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus, and assisted in religious education at St. Francis Church.
She is survived by her children, Mary Louise (Bell) Padgett of Webster, N.Y.; Dante P. Bell of Lakewood, Ohio; Stephen C. Bell of Riverview; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Daniel, Laura and Paul Padgett of Webster, N.Y., and Joey and Gina Bell of Riverview; daughters-in-law, Joan Amato and Susan Bell; sister, Alesa Thurn of Freemont, Ohio; and brothers, John R. LaValle of Freemont, Ohio, and David C. LaValle of Centerburg, Ohio.
Bell was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 21, with a rosary service at 7 p.m. at Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood Chapel.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Interment will be in Port Clinton, Ohio.
