Lois Lamphere, 76

Lois Poirier Lamphere, 76 of Rotonda West, formerly of South Burlington, Vt., passed on peacefully Aug. 8 after a lengthy illness.

She will be truly missed by many who loved her. Lois also had many close friends and neighbors who meant the world to her.

Born April 20, 1935, in Montpelier, Vt., the daughter of Leo and Cylena Poirier, she leaves behind her loving husband and best friend, Jim; daughters, Pam Lamphere and her partner, Bob Reuschel, Kelly LaPan and her partner, Glenn Conchieri; son, Scott Lamphere, all of South Burlington; and grandchildren of whom she was most proud, Matthew Kehaya and his wife, Shea, of Swanton, Vt., Jay Mahl and Chris Mahl of South Burlington, Evan Cummings of Boston and Cori LaPan of South Burlington. She also leaves her brother, Robert Poirier and his wife, Barbara, of Jericho, Vt., sister-in-law, Ann Wheelock and her husband, Tim of Calais, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Before retiring to Florida in 1999, she was a dispatcher at the South Burlington Police Department, volunteered at Fletcher Allen Hospital and felt most fortunate to be a caregiver for her mother, Cylena. She was involved in many community activities such as Rotonda Women's Association, PEO and the Englewood Hospital Volunteer program. Her many passions in life included art, music and spending time with her dogs, Rosie and Sadie.

She was proud to have studied at the Adamant School of Music in Adamant, Vermont for one summer.
