Englewood WWII-Korean War Army vet passes

James Miller, 87 of Englewood died Sept. 19.

Born March 5, 1924, in Dorchester, Mass., he came to this area in 1986 from Milton, Mass.

He retired as a construction photographer after 44 years with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority in Boston.

He was a member of the Englewood Elks Lodge No. 2378, life member of the Englewood VFW Post No. 10178, life member of the Florida-D.A.V. No. 97, past commander of the VFW Boston Carmens Post No. 3403, life member of the Dorchester Yacht Club and past commander of the American Legion Post of Jamaica Plain, Mass.

He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; brother, Joseph of Pembroke, Mass.; his sister, Pauline Pheeney of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Sept. 21 with the Elks Lodge of Sorrow service at the Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood.
