Police look for drive-by shooter after bar fracas

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit has issued a warrant for a suspect in the drive-by shooting into a car early Saturday morning in Port Charlotte.

Four counts of attempted murder were assigned in the shooting on U.S. 41 by Elkcam Boulevard around 1:45 a.m. after an argument inside Boomers night club, 2360 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte.

Four people left the night club and drove south on U.S. 41 in a blue 2000 Buick when another vehicle pulled up alongside. Several shots were fired into the passenger side of the Buick.

A female driver from Arcadia was shot in the neck and airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital Trauma Unit in Ft. Myers; she is in stable condition. Two male passengers were injured, treated and released while another man was not injured.

MCU detectives are not releasing names of the victims or the suspect. Anyone with information about this drive-by shooting are asked to call (941) 639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
