Detectives say four people drove to Boomers Night Club, 2360 Tamiami Trail, around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Kameka Latish Akins, 22, and her passengers: Ernest Bristol, 39, Kenny Eugene Chambers, 29, all of Arcadia, and Cleve C. McKenzie, 38, of Bartow got into a fight with Battle. Battle,

Roundtree, and another man got into a white Ford Crown Victoria and left. Akins, Bristol, Chambers and McKenzie got into Akins' car and stopped to get gas at a Circle-K. As they left, a white Ford pulled up to the passenger side and eight bullets hit the car at 1:33 a.m.

Akins was shot in the neck and remains in Lee Memorial Hospital; Chambers was shot in the back of his head by a bullet that creased him; McKenzie was shot in the right leg and had a minor injury. Bristol was not hit. Chambers told detectives the altercation was over a girlfriend.

MCU detectives continue their investigation, and Battle is still being sought on a warrant for four counts of attempted murder. If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Battle, please call the CCSO at 941-639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
