Charlotte vehicle deaths reached 26 in 2011

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office will pay special attention to traffic enforcement today through Sunday.

Speed: All of Placida Road from Englewood to Placida, which is the primary route to Boca Grande, where 40 crashes involving 71 vehicles, injured 14, causing $127,200 in damages in 2010 and and Veterans Boulevard in Port Charlotte.

Traffic signals: State Road 776 and McCall Road and San Casa Boulevard in Englewood where 18 crashes involving 41 vehicles, injured 13, causing $110,250 in damages in 2010 and U.S. 41 and Harbor Boulevard in Port Charlotte.

Charlotte County already has one vehicle death this year compared with none the same time last year.

Fatalities hit 26.
