2 Charlotte teens popped carhopping

Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested two teen boys for allegedly stealing from unlocked vehicles in Port Charlotte just before 3 a.m. Sunday.

Matthew Bradley Bollinger, 16, 21451 Gibralter Dr., and Nathaniel Jaylee Cooper, 15, 1264 Yorkshire St., face felony charges for burglary to an unoccupied conveyance. Bollinger was also charged with resisting an officer.

A witness told police he saw someone inside his mother's unlocked minivan parked in the driveway. The man reportedly caught Cooper in the act and held him down until deputies arrived. Bollinger fled on foot.

A K9 unit flushed Bollinger from a wooded area and he was arrested.

Deputies said they found a small jewelry box with two rings and a pair of earrings, numerous coins, a bottle of Visine and three lighters on Bollinger.

Deputies said several unlocked vehicles were victimized All items were returned to the owners except for the lighters.

Bollinger and Cooper were transported to the Charlotte County Jail and later released to their parents.
