The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office will pay special attention to speeders on Placida Road and Veterans Boulevard through Jan. 29.
Police say there were 40 crashes on Placida Road in 2010 from State Road 776 to Rotonda Bopulevard West involving 71 vehicles, injuring 14, causing $127,200 in damages.
Traffic lights will be monitored on U.S. 41 and Harbor Boulevard in Port Charlotte and State Road.776 and Beach Road in Englewood.
The Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles reports Charlotte County has two vehicle deaths so far this year compared with 0 the same time last year. Total fatalities for 2011 were 26.
