Dead golf course cats mystery closed

January 23, 2012
Gasparilla Gazette

Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives say there is no human connection to the dismembered cat body parts found several times between October and December on Port Charlotte Golf Club fairways at 22400 Gleneagles Terrace. Employees found the dead cat parts, which were sent to a forensics laboratory without conclusive results. Detectives were called back to the golf course after large paw prints were found on the course. Detectives and Animal Control have concluded a large predatory animal likely killed the cats.

CCSO has closed the case as unfounded of any human involvement.
