Fraudulent phone calls asking for donations to the Salvation Army are being made in the Boca Grande area, police say. The Salvation Army does not do telephone solicitations.
An unknown man posing as a member of the Salvation Army is apparently convincing in asking for donated items. He asks resident to put donated items out next to their mailbox with the initials "SA" on the bag. Residents who get such solicitation phone calls are asked to contact the Salvation Army at (941) 629-3170.
