The Lemon Bay Women's Golf League is dedicating this year's golf fundraiser to The Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation, which donates 100 percent of its proceeds to patients in economic distress.
The league committee of Trudy Bernsten, Joan Young and Marianne Schlecht selected the Foundation after talking with an oncologist about financial difficulties patients face in treatment such as day care costs, transportation expenses and loss of income due to inability to work.
The March 6 golf tournament will be no frills. Monies raised by the Lemon Bay Golf Tournament will be earmarked for patients in the immediate areas surrounding Boca Grande.
