Police seized 90 pounds of marijuana at a traffic stop on Interstate 75 lat 4:30 p.m. Friday.
A Lee County detective searched a rented 2010 Chevrolet Suburban after the front-seat passenger was observed not wearing a seatbelt. While speaking with the driver and passenger, the detective became suspicious when the two "cousins" inside the vehicle did not know each other's first or last names.
A computer check showed the passenger had prior criminal history for distributing marijuana and six large boxes were visible in the cargo area of the vehicle. The detective's K9 partner "Cole" helped confirm the presence off illegal drugs. Each of the boxes contained marijuana with an estimated street value of $360,000.
