Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Port Charlotte man on two counts of aggravated child abuse, one count child abuse and domestic battery after an incident at his home Thursday.
Deputies were dispatched on a domestic disturbance at 7:25 p.m. to 22379 Catherine Ave. Neighbors and witnesses in the home told police Jason Brandon Daugherty, 30, had been drinking and fell asleep. He woke up and began yelling for everyone to get out of his house.
Daugherty reportedly threw a glass ice cream bowl that shattered on the floor, then grabbed a 6-year-old boy by the neck and threw the boy on the floor into the broken glass. He sustained cuts to his hands.

Daugherty continued to yell and, as a 12-year-old girl fled the house, the disturbance moved outside. Daugherty then allegedly grabbed his wife and pushed her over a bicycle causing her to fall. He then allegedly grabbed a 9-year-old boy by the back of his neck and pushed him over a pile of sharp rocks.
Daugherty was transported to the Charlotte County Jail where he remains on no bond.
