Smart Studio features array of national artists

Smart Studio is playing host to at least 14 professional American craftsmen and women this season featuring wood, glass, shell and metal works.

The far-flung artists include one each from New Hampshire, Ohio, Washington, Massachusetts, two from North Carolina, Connecticut and Colorado and four from Florida.

Glass artists include Sue Ayala of Daytona, whose work is inspired by sea creatures. Or create your own shell boxes are fashioned by Christina Eadie of New Hampshire.

A tarpon by metal artist Tripp Gregson of North Carolina

Mosaic mirrors and frames by Angie Heinrich of Washington are made with Italian glass tile and beads.

Handblown starfish and hearts are by Luke Adams of Massachusetts.

Metal artist Tripp Gregson of North Carolina fashions outdoor art from retired highway signs while Rebecca Duffy Bush, also of the Tarheel State, paints surfers and mermaids in bright colors.

Our newest wood artists construct furniture from reclaimed wood:

n Fernando Aragon of Florida uses reclaimed wood from Alabama;

n Tim Saltonstall of Colorado uses driftwood and barnwood to create shell tables and a unique line of lamps with nautical themes.

Birds by Al Rollings of Florida and Richard Morgan Connecticut are unique.

Sam Knowles of Florida creates chainsaw art inspired by nature while Greg Harris of the Sunshine State whittles miniature doorways with a Boca flair. Shell art by Deb Fitzgerald of Ohio and Mark Ruede of Connecticut are amazing.
