A homeless Port Charlotte man was arrested Monday for allegedly possessing eight child pornography photos and a child porno video on his cellphone.
Michael Joseph Ferris, 22, was charged with lewd and lascivious battery Nov. 27, 2011, for having sex with a 12-year-old girl at his campsite. Deputies reported Ferris left a wooded area off State Road 776 by Cedarwood Street and Toledo Blade Boulevard, followed by two girls ages 11 and 12. The 12-year-old later said she was high on drugs two weeks earlier when she had consensual sex with Ferris.
Detectives said they found eight photos of prepubescent nude girls and one video depicting a prepubescent girl on the phone following a legal search. The girls posed to expose their sexual organs or were involved in sexual performance.

Ferris now faces nine counts of child pornography. He remains in jail on no bond.
