The Boca Grande Child Care Dinner and Auction was another resounding success this year.
The tables at the Boca Grande club were beautifully decorated by Jeanie Stevenson and Camille Williams to "Celebrate the Silver" for the Child Care's 25th Anniversary.
We give special thanks to the Boca Grande Club for generously playing host to the event - Becki Kemmer and her staff for working tirelessly to have everything perfect - to Greg Foos for providing a really delicious meal and to Yvonne Anderson for her hospitality.
Without our amazing staff of teachers Child Care would not be what it is. Director Kimi Harms is always there to help as well as her staff: Holly Woods, Heidi Cahill and Wendy Kelly who oversee the silent auction and help in numerous ways.
The money from the evening helps subsidize the tuitions for working families of our island's children. The average child care tuition rate in Florida is $125 a week while the Boca Grande Child Care Center charges $75 per week. Seventy percent of the cost of running the Center is subsidized.
For all those generous people who contributed to the success of the silent auction - we thank you.
To the generous providers of our live auction items Lou Fusz, the Hillenbrands, Thurners, Rembolds, Mark Futch, Diane and Steve Walker, the Heisels, Greg Foos, Jeanie Stevenson, the Hydes, Murphys, Shelly Barr, the Jeffs, Lymans, Fields and Baers: What would we do without your generosity?
The silent auction was a huge success. Mikey Baer and her amazing workers gathered 35 first-class items to bid on.
Everyone participated and cocktails around the Boca Grande pool provided a fun place to socialize - all to the background music of Jules Ruggiero.
The Child Care Center is indispensable to the good of our island. Parents can be working nearby with their little ones playing and learning close at hand, from highly qualified, early learning-certified teachers. The child care center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thank you one and all.
