John L. Young, 86, of Fort Myers was killed in a golf cart collision with a pickup Wednesday.
The driver of the 2004 GMC pickup has been identified as Stephen B. Kidd, 66, of Naples. An investigation is ongoing but police say no charges likely will be filed against the driver of the pickup.
Young, a U.S. Army veteran honorably discharged in 1946, was driving along Summerlin Road at 2:30 p.m. near Kelly Greens Boulevard in South Fort Myers. He apparently a golf cart out of the Siesta Bay community drove into the path of an eastbound pickup truck on Summerlin Road. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash.
Young died at the scene.
