A motorcyclist is dead after crashing into construction barrels on the Cape Coral Bridge and flying into the Caloosahatchee River.
Emergency located the body in the water with a boat. Deputies responded to the crash at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday and turned the investigation over to the Lee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Unit.
Investigators said the motorcyclist sped through the SunPass lane travelling between 90 and 100 mph before striking the construction equipment.
The victim was identified as Tiler Hood, 21, of 4882 Woodstock Road, St. James City. The accident forced deputies to shut down the westbound lanes of the Cape Coral Bridge for more than three hours.
The investigation continues.
