Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives arrested a Port Charlotte hotel housekeeper for allegedly stealing two checks from a customer's room. Ashley Sierra Brosnfield, 24, 21150 Gertrude Ave., is charged with grand theft, uttering a forged check and theft of personal property from a motel.
the theft allegedly occurred March 31 at Days Inn, 1941 Tamiami Trail. An alleged victim reported two checks were missing from his checkbook left in his room. His bank reported one $600 check was cashed but the signature did not match his.
Bronsfield was assigned to clean the victim's hotel room. She allegedly deposited the stolen $600 check in an ATM machine at a bank on Olean Boulevard in Port Charlotte March 30.

She was arrested Thursday and taken to the Charlotte County Jail, posted $7,500 bond and was released.
