A bartender staying at his mother's Boca Grande home told police he was robbed of nearly $7,000 in cash and property July 31.
Gerald Weir called police to 208 Pilot St. in Boca Grande just before midnight Tuesday, July 31, to report a black lockbox had been taken from his bedstand.
Weir said the box contained a gold diamond ring valued at $5,700, an undisclosed amount of cash, a $450 high school ring, passport and high school diploma. Weir said he noticed the box missing after coming home from work and immediately called police.

Deputy David Kardys reported he found no sign of forced entry. No suspects were identified or evidence collected at the scene.
Weir is staying in the lower level of the house and vacationing renters occupy the upper level.
Weir was given a report for insurance purposes.
