The Charlotte County Sheriff's pawn detective have arrested a father for allegedly stealing a $5,500 ring while the 70-year-old owner was in a hospital and having his daughter pawn it for $300 for drug money July 12, 2010.
Pete Michael Patterson, 45, 8337 Pelican Drive, Englewood, was charged Tuesday with grand theft from a person 65 or older.
The diamond-clustered ring was found at Young's Creative Jewelry, 2828 S. McCall Road, Englewood East. Police say Beth Nicole Patterson, 26, 5 Old Trail Road, Englewood, daughter of Pete Patterson, pawned the ring. She allegedly said her father did not have a driver's license and asked her to pawn the ring for him. The form showed Beth Patterson's driver's license and thumb print.
