James A. Coleman, 88, of Punta Gorda, passed away Sept. 10.
Born May 23, 1924, in Boca Grande to Eugene and Laura Coleman, he was a World War II u.S. Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Post No.103.
Coleman worked as a plumbing contractor for 60 years and was the owner of James Coleman Plumbing Co.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Coleman of Punta Gorda; children, Eugene (Barbara) Coleman and Joann McClannan, all of Punta Gorda; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Henry Darna of Port St Joe; and sisters, Vivian Joiner of Grove City and Christine Langford of Tampa.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Carol Lawhorne and Linda Evans, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Lawhorne.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave., Punta Gorda. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with burial with military honors at Indian Springs Cemetery.
