Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested an alleged home burglar Wednesday on the tip of a neighbor who watches the Grove City home while the owners are out of state.
Joshua Kane Merrill, 26, 10400 Tamiami Trail, North Port, was charged with burglary. He was jailed on $2,500 bond.
Police received a call at 3:23 a.m. after the neighbor heard a thump and saw a man standing inside his neighbor's garage with thee light on in the 2200 block of Oleada Court. Deputies arrived and chased a man into a wooded area where he was arrested at 4:01 a.m.

The neighbor reportedly identified Merrill as the man he saw in the garage.
Detectives said a side garage door window was smashed. Nothing has been reported stolen as the owners are still in Indiana.
