Fingerprint scan access increased

September 26, 2012
Gasparilla Gazette

Citizens seeking fingerprint services for concealed weapon permit/firearm license requests, or a change of name request, can now go to the Sheriff's District-2 Substation at the Port Charlotte Town Center Mall on the Sears end.

For a processing fee of $5, citizens can have their fingerprints processed via live scan from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Hours for live scan services at the Sheriff's Administration Building, 7474 Utilities Road, Punta Gorda, remain 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.\

Live scan electronically takes a fingerprint and uploads to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which sends it to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a background check.
