Charlotte County Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit detectives have arrested a man they say robbed SunTrust Bank at 18501 Murdock Circle last Thursday in Murdock.
Robin Patrick Conte, 39, 2125 Tea St., Port Charlotte, is also suspected in the Oct. 18 armed robbery of the Asian Cai Lay Market, 1380 El Jobean Road.
Police say Conte entered SunTrust with a goatee, hat on backward, sunglasses, jacket, pants and a red T-shirt. He reportedly demanded cash and fled with an undetermined amount. A witness said the robber left the bank on a small electric scooter. The scooter was recovered nearby along with a jacket.

Conte fled to the Tampa area and was at Tampa General Hospital for a previous prison medical condition. The U.S. Marshal Task Force in Tampa located Conte in the hospital. He was taken into custody and remains under guard pending his return to Charlotte County.
Conte is being held on the bank robbery warrant with no bond. He will also be arrested for armed robbery of the Asian Cai Lay Market when he is returned to the Charlotte County Jail.
