Pat Wright of the Boca Grande Camera Club espied a bobcat in her backyard recently trying to catch a squirrel.
" By the time I got my lens and camera together, the bobcat had stopped chasing the squirrel and decided to sit in the grass and relax in the sun," Wright said.
The bobcat sat there for a few minutes allowing Wright to snap close-ups. When the bobcat decided to leave, she managed to get one shot showing a portrait of its full size.

"I'm careful when approaching wildlife such as a bobcat," Wright said, "so I use a long-range lens (Canon 500mm), which allows me to keep a safe distance from the subject. Also, I don't like to frighten or give them concern of my presence."
Wright said she used a 1D Mark IV camera to take the photographs. She lives in Windward at Cape Haze and her house backs up to the Links golf course, which runs parallel to a Charlotte County conservation area.
"Occasionally, I see a bobcat back there but rarely get a chance to take a photograph," she said.
