Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity, now celebrating 25 years having served 255 families, will be in Boca Grande twice for updates in January on a Habitat home funded and built by Gasparilla Island-area residents, churches and businesses.
Michelle Rumreich, director of development, Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity, will offer updates from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 and Jan. 30 at the Boca Grande Community Center Woman's Club Room on the $50,000 home being built in Englewood between February and April.
"We have been actively building in the West County/ Englewood area and are seeking community involvement to help with our Boca Grande and Island Build," Rumreich said. "Residents of Boca Grande and surrounding communities will come together to fund and build a home for a family in the Englewood area."

Whether you enjoy fund-raising events or swinging a hammer, Habitat is calling for volunteers in its mission. It raises money through golf, tennis, fishing and bridge fundraisers, bake sales and pancake breakfast, private themed dinner parties, community yard sales and individual and business donations.
"We have raised $33,000 so far for the first home," Rumreich said.
Last year's efforts included organizing a volunteer Island Build planning team, Island Build fundraising and building and construction at the house, Rumreich said.
