Boca Grande volunteers should check this site

January 21, 2013
Gasparilla Gazette

To the Editor:

"The time is always right to do what is right," said Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Monday, Jan. 21, is a national holiday to honor the legacy of the civil rights leader through volunteering and service. Because the presidential inauguration occurs on the holiday this year, President Barack Obama encouraged citizens to join him in a day of service.

Community members inspired to volunteer on Martin Luther King Jr. Day - or any other day of the year - can learn about many volunteer needs at YoudBePerfectForThis.org.

Service is the foundation of community. At "You'd Be Perfect for This," community members can browse until they find a service opportunity that truly engages them.

Community groups can use the free site to find needed volunteer help they need.

Visitors to YoudBePerfectForThis.org can find information about service opportunities in their community that range from "done in a day" projects to standing weekly commitments.

The volunteer-matching website, managed by Gulf Coast Community Foundation, now lists 180 volunteer opportunities with more than 75 charities, clubs, and special events. Opportunities featured on the website are available from Boca Grande and northern Charlotte County through Sarasota and Manatee counties.
