Margo Freeman, president of the Island School Board, and Pat Chapman, chairwoman of the Friends of Boca Grande Community Center, announced Thursday the After School Children's Program will now be run by The Island School.
"This is something that we have been thinking about for some time," Chapman said. "It is consistent with both organizations view of an integrated education system for the island's children".
After School program director Angela Colisomo will join the the Island School staff full time.

"We look forward to having her," Freeman said.
Bob Green, Lee County senior supervisor, said the move shows the commitment of the organizations to doing what is best for the children."
There are 29 children enrolled in the program, including 22 from the Island School and seven from Vineland Elementary, said Head of School Jean Thompson.
The Island School, a charter school sponsored by Lee County Public Schools, is free for students kindergarten through fifth grade. The Island School has small classes and state-certified faculty.
