Remember time change this weekend

March 7, 2013
Gasparilla Gazette

The Southwest Florida Water Management District is reminding residents to check the timers on their irrigation system controllers before midnight Saturday - the beginning of Daylight Savings Time.

"Spring forward," and turn clocks ahead one hour. The time change is also a good time to make sure your irrigation system timer is set correctly to ensure your system operates consistently with water restrictions.

The Tampa Bay Region water restrictions limit lawn and landscape watering to a once a week based on address and residents may only water before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m.

There are no changes to the Phase I restrictions in place for other water uses, including agricultural irrigation, golf course operations, industrial processes or pressure washing.

Water your lawn only when it shows signs of stress from lack of water. Signs of stressed grass include a bluish-gray color, lingering tire tracks or footprints and leaf blades folded in half lengthwise.
