Jacques Boudreau, co-owner of the popular Boca Grande eatery Loose Caboose along with his wife, Blanche, came to the rescue of a sick cormorant Saturday afternoon.
The ailing bird was wandering around the village clearly disoriented. Boudreau chased the bird down and caged it up for transport to the Wildlife Center in Venice.
The bird was reported in stable condition Monday recovering fm red-tide toxicity, likely from eating red tide-tainted fish, WC officials said. It was expected to recover and be released back on Gasparilla Island within two weeks..
